If we could recommend only one product to every client, it would be a broad-spectrum sunscreen worn every day. It is the single most effective step for protecting your skin and the results of any treatment you have.
Sun damage is not just sunburn
Ultraviolet light breaks down collagen, triggers pigmentation and contributes to uneven texture and fine lines. Much of this happens without any burning at all, and UVA penetrates cloud and glass — so it matters on grey days and indoors near windows too.
Deeper skin tones need SPF too
Melanin offers some natural protection from burning, but it does not prevent all sun damage. Deeper skin tones are often more prone to pigmentation, including the dark marks left behind after spots or irritation. Daily SPF is one of the most important ways to prevent these marks from deepening.
Why it matters after treatment
Peels, microneedling and dermaplaning leave fresh skin more sensitive to the sun. Without protection, you risk undoing your results — or creating new pigmentation.
Making it a habit
- Choose a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher that you enjoy wearing — texture matters.
- Apply it as the last step of your morning skincare, every day.
- Use enough: around two finger-lengths for the face and neck.
- Reapply if you are outdoors for long periods.
