Microneedling encourages your skin to repair itself. How you look after it in the first few days makes a genuine difference to your results — and to how comfortable you feel. Always follow the specific aftercare you are given on the day, but this is the general picture.
What is normal
- Redness similar to mild sunburn, usually settling within a day or two.
- A feeling of warmth or tightness.
- Mild dryness or flaking a few days later as the skin renews.
The first 24 hours
- Keep your hands off your face and avoid makeup.
- Avoid exercise, saunas, steam rooms and hot baths.
- Use only the products recommended to you.
- Sleep on a clean pillowcase.
Days two and three
- Cleanse gently with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser.
- Keep skin hydrated with a simple, fragrance-free moisturiser.
- Avoid retinoids, acids and exfoliants until we say otherwise.
- Wear a broad-spectrum SPF every day and avoid direct sun.
When to contact us
Get in touch if you notice anything that worries you, such as increasing pain, swelling, heat or signs of infection. We would always rather hear from you than have you wait.
When will I see results?
Skin often looks fresher within a week or so, but changes to texture and scarring build over the following months and across a course of treatments.
Not sure where to start? Book a Skin Health Assessment and we will look properly at your skin, explain what is happening and write you a plan — whether or not you ever book a treatment.
