Thinning hair can affect confidence more than almost anything else. PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is one of the treatments we use to support a healthier scalp and fuller-looking hair.

How PRP works

A small sample of your blood is taken and spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma. This plasma, which contains growth factors, is then injected into the areas of the scalp where hair is thinning. Because it comes from your own body, it is a natural approach.

Who it can help

  • People in the early to moderate stages of thinning.
  • Those with diffuse thinning rather than complete bald patches.
  • Clients wanting to support the hair they still have.

Hair loss has many causes, including hormones, nutrition, stress and some medical conditions. It is important to understand the cause, and sometimes we will suggest speaking to your GP first.

How many sessions?

PRP is usually given as a course of sessions spaced several weeks apart, followed by maintenance. We will recommend a plan at your consultation.

When will I notice a difference?

Hair grows slowly, so this is a treatment for patient people. Changes usually take several months to become noticeable, which is why we photograph your scalp before you start — so progress is judged on evidence, not memory.

Does it hurt?

There is some discomfort with the scalp injections, but most people find it very manageable and it is over quickly.
